Chaplain vs. Librarian: The Showdown
Welcome all to the first installment of a new series I shall be attending for Rites: The Showdown. This series will take two units, usually sharing some similarity and breakdown in-depth what it is about them that shines. And having had been made to suffer the presence of the witch we all know as Corvus, the Templar in me has decided to breakdown the uses of the Chaplain vs. the Librarian for the first showdown.
WARNING: the following is based completely on my views as a player, and I recognize bias is ever an issue with opinion/observation-based articles. As such, take all that you read with a colossal size grain of naturally occurring, flavor enhancing crystal.
So as it is probably easy to recognize, these units are both HQ choices presented in just about every Space Marine codex. A few exceptions are that some codexes refer to these units with different names, such as the Blood Angel "Reclusiarch" as well as their chaplains found in the elite slot. The Space Wolf "Rune Priest" and "Wolf Priest." The Black Templars have no Librarians at all, so they will only be contributing for the men in black. Regardless of name, I will be looking into the HQ version of each codex for this comparison. So lets get down to business.

Drop Pod Tactica - Steel Rain
As some readers may remember, a few months ago, I did a two part series about my feelings on the tactical squad, and took some time to reexamine the strengths and weaknesses of that classic space marine mainstay. As a result of that article, and much conversation with Godfrey, I developed a fondness for drop pods, and proceeded to overhaul my first army, giving my Blood Ravens what feels like a new lease on life. In the vein of Son of Horus's recent rhino tactics article, I present to you drop pod tactica.

Independence Day
Good afternoon everyone,
Today's post isn't about wargaming or about our plastic space men. Today is bigger than that. Today is the day we in the United States have set aside to celebrate the declaration of our independence from the British crown. Today is one of our days to remember those men and women who have been wounded or killed to defend that independence and the principles of our nation. I would invite you to take the day, while you aren't spending it with your families, to consider the state of those principles in our nation today.
I apologize for my absence. I have been pouring myself into making a game of Dark Heresy for all my co-authors. I've been thouroughly enjoying it, but it has meant that I haven't been playing my 40k armies much and thus don't really have much to talk about. I'll try to keep you up to date on the goings on in Bloomington and soon in the Arlington/Fairfax area of Virginia to which I will soon be moving.
Best Regards,
Heretic
