Happy Thanksgiving

Greetings everyone,

It's Thanksgiving here in the states and I'm out of town with family.  I'm grateful for them, their health and my ability to travel to see them.  I hope you all have the opportunity to at least talk to those you love this holiday season.  I'm thankful for finding another player in Fairfax to play against and will be posting photos with a  battle report soon.  Until then, I hope you all have a good holiday season and I'll be putting as much of my creative energy into Dark Heresy and wrapping up a campaign as I can.  Hopefully we can get some podcasts out to you all soon.

Honor the Codex: Pt. 5 Troops & Dedicated Transports

Hello students and welcome to the fifth part of our study of the Space Marine codex. Today, we elaborate on some of our fundamentals that were covered in our primer. Today, we look at the necessary evils which define our power armored friends, tactical squads and dedicated transports. If you've already forgotten those precious commands, worry not. I'll reintroduce them. Brace yourselves, and we'll catch up on the other side of the break.

Force Organization in 40k

General hellos to everyone.  So my musing on 40k continue, and hot of the heals of looking at some of 6th edition's effects on 40k, some unique and others revisiting old rules (just for you Chris!), I now turn my gaze back a little at something that really started becoming a big thing in 5th edition.  While yes it is something that has existed for quite some time, 5th edition started something... and 6th has taken it and run with it.  The ability to swap units from one section to another, affectionately coined the Force Organization Swap.

Honor the Codex: Pt. 4 Generic HQ's

Hello dear readers and welcome to part four of Honor the Codex. Here we truly start to dig into the options that our new Marine codex has to offer. There's certainly a bevy of them, but ultimately the question hangs of which options are worth utilizing (especially after we looked at the relics), and which should be left in the display case. With that brief introduction, the only thing left to note is that you'll need to have read the earlier articles to keep up. If you haven't, do that now and we'll move along without you.

The Characterization of 40k

Greetings and salutations folks.  Having been tromping about the real world for a spell looking for a job, I have been severely derelict in my responsibilities to you.  But while I haven't been writing, my earns never stop hearing the constant rumoring of what's to come, and has left me pondering about what has come already.

It has been some time since 6th dropped, and Warhammer 40,000 has been quite different since it did.  While the identity of the game remains largely the same, there have been many tweaks and developments which 6th has introduced that has made it a feat in itself just to keep up with them all.  Some of these were noticed right off the bat; such as the introduction of Overwatch, the massively expanded psychic prescience with Deny the Witch and the Core BRB disciplines, and the hull point system.  All of these and more have made the change over from 5th to 6th quite extensive.  But is all of this for the better?

Sometimes in order to make the new rules shine, the game starts to change to suit them.  Taking a page from Sir Conan Doyle, "It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts."  When you apply the concept with what I am seeing from 40k, you may find yourself understanding why I feel Games Workshop is twisting the game to suit mechanics, instead of mechanics to suit the game.

Let's Be Friends! - Dark Eldar (And Other Thoughts)

Hey there everyone! I'm back after over a two week long hiatus (courtesy of an anniversary, nerf guns, and zombies), bringing with me our shortest article in the LBF series of articles, an examination of the Dark Eldar and what they can achieve when allied with their less malicious space elf brethren. Also, while I've got the page space, I thought I'd take a moment or two to post some of my musings on the nature of this series, and on Allies in general. That said, let's get down to it.

Returning from The Warp

Hey Everyone.  Sorry for my absence from the page.  The last two weeks have kept me away from my home and my computer.  Helping a friend host a game of HvZ, then went straight into a gaming marathon for charity.  It's been a busy time for me, but with those events past, I'm ready to head into the Holiday season with some new ideas of where to head.

I've got a couple of articles planned looking into FW and some of their newest content, as well as a review on the effects of the massive Horus Heresy model line.  I also have a few other topics to discuss such as a review of my newest Addition to my Apocalypse line-up.  Along with these, there are some new stand alone articles I've got in the wings as well as some updates to the series articles.

Winter is coming, and and with it a whole slew of new articles from myself to wrap up the 2013 year.  I'll start writing on the first of many to come, and I'll see you guys around the net.

Cheers!
